What happens when you combine a childhood fascination of bikes with your ability to make a bomb-ass sandwich? You get “Cycles & Sandwiches,” a project that allows Kendrick and other volunteers to feed their communities while burning a few calories and enjoying the beautiful South Florida breeze. “Although this is called ‘Cycles and Sandwiches,’ we are much more,” Kendrick says. Volunteers provide roughly 2 or 3 meals to each recipient in addition to deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other essentials. In one of the richest countries in the world, no one should go hungry or be without the bare minimums to maintain good health and hygiene. In addition, with this effort, the use of cameras are off limits. Kendrick believes that this service, as well as other acts of heart-centered service and activism, should not be for the photo ops; but instead should be for and about helping those in need. Nothing more or less.
